Last year my son bought me an orchid for Christmas. It was a fairly tall orchid, with a long slender stem and 5 magnificent flowers. When he gave it to me the flowers were in full bloom and they lasted for absolutely ages before gradually fading one by one and eventually dropping gracefully off. Having never owned an orchid before, I dutifully looked up what to do with my orchid and followed the instructions that I found, which said to cut the stem half way down after the last flower has fallen.
It was around this time, that whilst out watching my son play football, I spotted another orchid that someone had left next to a rubbish bin. There were no flowers on this abandoned orchid and although it was simply a small stick, stuck in a disposable plastic cup of dried dirt, I had a sense of rescuing something that was very much alive. My body has always amazed me with its ability to know what is ahead. A few years ago I moved from a climate that is warm in winter to a climate that is very cold in winter. I arrived at my new home in the summer, however as I am really thin, I was feeling a little bit worried about how my body would cope. Strangely I began to put on weight – not a lot, just a couple of kilos. I was amazed as I had never put on weight in this way before. I knew that my body was preparing for winter even though it was still warm in my new home. How did my body know what was ahead?
This made me ponder on many past and recent experiences I’ve had which simply confirm the amazing, yet natural intelligence of the body:

If clairsentience is truly innate and natural, then how is it that most of us remain completely ignorant of it?
Clairsentience is the ability to read, feel and identify the energetic quality of what is going on for oneself, other people and the world in general. It confers the ability to observe situations without being hooked by them as we simply register and clock energy without reaction. In connection with the inner heart centre, we sense and feel what corresponds to our essence and what does not. In fact, all the nuances of energy are felt without judgement. We may feel a person is lying or disregarding themselves or us, but understand that this is their choice of energy – no more, no less. I was brought up to be ‘responsible’ and to have an awareness that how I acted affected other people; as the eldest child, there were expectations that I took on – that how I behaved had an impact on my younger siblings. Doing the ‘right’ thing was important even if no one else knew you were doing it. I prided myself on being honest and pointing out, for example, if a shopkeeper had undercharged me, but in reality, I was often very irresponsible in how I took care of myself and also how my frequent disregard for myself and my wellbeing impacted all those around me. Not just because other people had to pick up some of my responsibilities, but also in the irritability and other behaviours that I imposed on others.

Have there been times in your life when you:
- Suddenly thought about someone you hadn’t heard from or seen in ages only to see them on the street, or have them call you soon after? Did you think that this was simply a coincidence, a chance event, and then gave it no further thought?
- Walked into a house and instantly felt uncomfortable as if something felt ‘off’ – you could feel it but couldn’t see or explain it as you were not too sure what it was? Did you simply think that you were imagining what you were feeling and put it aside?
- Asked someone how they were and when they replied, “Fine” or “Good” – you felt that they were not telling you the truth but you held back from saying so just in case you had got it wrong?
