The One? A Student Response to the Recent Sydney Morning Herald Articles on Serge Benhayon

In response to the recent Sydney Morning Herald article published July 22, 2012, ‘Cult’ Cures on Medicare, with the opening line that proclaimed that “his followers call him The One”; I would like to state that I am not a member or follower of Universal Medicine or Serge Benhayon. I am a person who pays to attend presentations and workshops and I do not and never have called Serge Benhayon “The One”. In fact I call him Serge, after all that is his name; a family man who cares deeply about people and their well being.

I have known Serge for 8 years and in all that time he has never told me what to do or how to think or offered me advice. I have never ever heard him say or even hint that he or any of the esoteric modalities that are offered can cure cancer, or any other illness or disease for that matter. Under no circumstances have I heard Serge or anyone from Universal Medicine say anything other than that they are pro conventional medicine and that people should seek and do require medical care. And not once have I heard him say not to exercise or make love or encourage anyone to leave their partner or end a relationship.

What I have heard Serge talk about is the way he lives and what works for him and from that I have developed my own way of living and things that work for me. Breathing, eating, walking, sleeping, energy levels, daily rhythm. It is simply an application of common sense.

What he has done is bring to our awareness that we (all of us, not just people who attend Universal Medicine presentations) need more love in our lives, that we need to be more self-loving, that we need to care deeply about ourselves and then others, and that society is lacking of nurturing, connection and care for one another. If that makes Universal Medicine a “cult” and Serge Benhayon a “cult leader” then so is every doctor, medically trained person and practitioner or lay person who promotes self care and lifestyles to enhance well being and caring for one another.

These simply, accessible and practical actions of self-love, care and nurturing are at the core of all Serge’s presentations and what I came to realise was that what was being presented were the things I already felt inside and knew for myself but wasn’t choosing to live by.

What Serge has said is that we are all equally “The One”; “The One” that has a choice to make a difference to our own life and perhaps, by way of reflection, to the lives of others. “The One” that is responsible for living our own life, “The One” who is responsible for our own choices and “The One” responsible for our own health. “The One“ that can choose to live a more gentle, loving way with ourselves and be “The One” to let others see that there may be a different more self-loving way to be, not through preaching or teaching but by simply being who we are in our normal everyday lives and interactions.

  1. It is ridiculous that something so deeply beautiful and unimposing as being self-loving and responsible for our own health can be bastardised through a few misinterpretations or intentional lies to what is being printed. I look forward to the day when the truth is reported and those suffering from the lack of the former get to hear of the benefits of living in such a simple and loving way which poor journalism is currently denying them.

  2. We each one, are ‘the one’, we are the one who has made the past choices and the one who can choose a more loving way of living, and with that choice reflect to others that they too are the one.

  3. I have also heard Serge Benhayon present about the way he lives, and honestly, it is the best part. My ears prick up about how he lives and reads life. It is the most inspirational and interesting things to hear about, besides the mystical and historical. Serge Benhayon is a master of the esoteric and occult way of life. Someone I could listen to all day everyday however, this is not practical or responsible as I too can live this joyful way.

  4. If these comments aren’t evidence enough of the fact that so much of what has been printed as ‘journalism’ is absolute rubbish, then I don’t know what’s left to say. It’s very dissappointing to feel just how corrupt the media industry is. Very sad indeed.

  5. The insidiousness of lies and the media particularly with regards to Serge Benhayon is atrocious. I knew on some level what was printed in the papers was not true but didn’t realised just how evil and bastardised this was until knowing Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine for 6 years (at the time this was published) and his consistent integrity both energetically and physically, and deep love and care for humanity to then have a small group of people twist the truth on everything about what Serge Benhayon, Universal Medicine and the student body stand for. It is appalling.

  6. R.H I love that you shared at Universal Medicine events you are often being presented with ‘the things I already felt inside and knew for myself but wasn’t choosing to live by’. I have to agree, I feel that too.

  7. If these allegations were not so seriously defamatory, they would be totally laughable! Serge Benhayon saying he’s “the one!” The opposite is true of course like all these allegations. Serge says the opposite to this, just as any great teacher before him. I quote you here –
“What Serge has said is that we are all equally “The One”; “The One” that has a choice to make a difference to our own life and perhaps, by way of reflection, to the lives of others. “The One” that is responsible for living our own life, “The One” who is responsible for our own choices and “The One” responsible for our own health. “The One“ that can choose to live a more gentle, loving way with ourselves and be “The One” to let others see that there may be a different more self-loving way to be, not through preaching or teaching but by simply being who we are in our normal everyday lives and interactions.”
Yes indeed, we are all the ones.

  8. We are all The One in our own lives. Meeting Serge Benhayon was a revelation for me because he woke me up to the truth of how I had accepted less in life and to the truth of how I could live. The huge thing I have come to live and know is that we are all equal and that we all have the same potential to tap into the ancient wisdom as Serge does. I came from a conventional religious background and left it because I felt that the priest was standing between me and God. There is no way that I will allow that again. I am the authority in my own life.

  9. When we know we are The One, at one with all, we never have to prove that we are the one at all.

  10. I still find it astonishing the there can be such articles that are meant to be written by “reporters”. What are they reporting and where do they get their information? From someone who has sent a press kit in or from people on the street who have knowledge and experience?

  11. As Serge Benhayon would be the first to say, if anyone’s the one, it’s everyone. We all have the same capacity to reflect the divinity we are.

  12. All that Serge Benhayon presents about is his livingness, and he knows that we are equal in our essence. What is thought are possible ways of living more connected to this essence. Which we all know and deeply crave for.

  13. Reading this now it makes so much sense why humanity is in the state it is… the majority of us do not see ourselves as ‘the one’ who is responsible for the choices we make, to look after the health of our body and mind and ‘the one’ who expresses love or not….most the time there is blame on this system, person, group etc.

  14. Serge’s teachings are as you say, simple, accessible and practical. How it is that anyone can criticise someone for supporting others to be more caring, loving, nurturing and connected with ourselves and each other, just doesn’t make sense. The truth is there for all to see…

  15. I love the truth that these blog presents- that Serge presents on the importance of loving and taking care of and nurturing ourselves- something we have moved away from in our fast paced times- it is common sense- for love, connection, decency and care to come back into our communities we need to live this ourselves.

  16. I agree – I’m constantly learning how important it is to look after myself and how deeply precious and delicate I am and how my body loves to be truly looked after with food exercise and so on.

  17. The media in all it’s forms are so important to a society, we only need to look at countries where journalists lives are targeted for investigating and telling the truth. But they continue nevertheless because of what it means to their communities. Then we see the opposite where it’s all about sensation and not about the truth at all, where it brings nothing at all to a community. It really highlights the old saying of “don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story”.

  18. If Universal Medicine is a cult then I’m a flying unicorn. Sorry to be so abrupt but this is how nonsensical the media can be, void of common sense and the willingness to bring someone down for the sake of a ‘good story’.

  19. You have made it very clear R.H. that being ‘the One’ applies to each and every one of us and isn’t a label that belong to any single person alone with the rest of us ranking beneath that person. Thank you – your blog totally discredits the rubbish that the media has been pedalling for years now.

  20. “The One” is a typical journalistic invention. Have you ever noticed in the past being respectful of what journalists write and then reading an article about a subject you know well? Suddenly you realise that all the artful writing is a deception, the journalist in many, not all cases, has little or no idea of what they are talking about. The only thing they have perfected is sounding authoritative. “The One” is one of these plausible, intelligent, well researched assertions that are complete fabrications when you know the subject. This is not a happy reflection on what level of quality we as readers accept.

  21. Thank you R.H. For clarity and reflection of your experience with Serge which is as we can see from all the comments is not different from many others.
I can sign up for each of your statements.

  22. I have been attending the work shops by choice for 12 years and have never heard Serge say he is the one but rather we are all the ones who can make a difference by choosing to live who we are. A beautiful philosophy that should not be bastardised for the purpose of selling papers.

  23. interesting to read back on this blog, written at a time when the media had so grossly represented the truth about Universal Medicine and Serge Benhayon. What a blight it is on our media that they refuse to accept or even listen to the first hand testimonial of hundreds of supporters of Universal Medicine, instead choosing to cherry pick who they listen to in order to suit their already preconceived angle – in this case that angle being that Universal Medicine is a cult.

  24. Love it R.H. indeed we are all ‘The One’ and every single choice we make is our own responsibility and therefore all outcomes are too. Serge Benhayon presents a way of living that we can choose to embrace or not.

  25. Yes it is indeed an application of common sense to see how our choices impact us every day. From there it makes sense to choose things that support our wellbeing. Since when has being sensible and loving ourselves been a crime?

  26. Let’s face it, the way Serge loves is so compelling, it’s a case of ” I ‘ll have what he is having !”
He looks so joyous and vibrant every day, it’s inspiring and something others naturally want to integrate- who would not want his level of wisdom, vitality, fun, and harmonious relationships? Wow, Serge should be celebrated by the media, not vilified, it’s crazy that they don’t chose to see what is in plain sight. Oh well, regardless of the media smear campaign, I am dedicated to living my life in a way that feels more and more amazing every single day.

    1. I’m sure there will come a time when Serge is celebrated by the media, all that’s needed is a journalist with integrity and intent on delivering truth.

  27. Gee, how negative are the newspapers trying to twist something into a distorted form, all for the sake of selling more copies. They take “whispers”, snippets out of context and outright lies, weave it together into something ominous and package it up with utter disregard to the effects such lies can have. The tragedy in all of this is how Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine offer the integrity I have always sought and finally found, yet the media has painted them through complete lies in a different and very false picture. The public need the truth about Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine because they are supporting people to almost miraculously change their lives for the better. What Universal Medicine has to offer is needed globally. It’s really imperative that they are portrayed correctly so others can find access to their services in the same way I have. The benefits are huge.

    1. The public indeed need the truth about what Serge is offering humanity at a time when we most need someone to show us the way. It’s obvious with spiralling crime, illness and disease and depression making their way into so many peoples lives, yet we have a community living extremely well going against the trends. It’s disturbing that we have a media ready to denigrate rather than celebrate such people.

  28. Yes R.H. we are all The One, ultimately responsible for how we live and love – self and others and Serge Benhayon is simply speaking Truth for those who care to listen.

  29. That is so true R.H., Serge Benhayon continues to confirm to us that we are all “The One” and that we are in that not any special but that it means that we have to live our lives as such, with the self-responsibility that brings in our everyday lives.

  30. I agree R.H. Serge Benhayon has never said he is ‘the one’, he cares deeply about humanity and lives his life with strong integrity and true love. What Serge Benhayon presents makes a lot of sense, his practical self-loving tools has supported thousands of people worldwide to improve their health, well-being and relationships.

  31. Thank you R.H. I feel you have so succinctly described the way in which Universal Medicine and Serge Benhayon present, never telling, only presented the truth for all to feel and see for themselves if they so choose to. I for one know that I am “the one” in my life who is choosing to make changes, I have been inspired by what Universal Medicine present, to consider the way I now choose to live and for that I am forever grateful, but it is my choice. Thank you R.H. for stating it as it is for all to see and feel for themselves.

  32. To judge someone (e.g., Serge Benhayon) for what he has never said is a murky business. To attribute to him what he never said is defamation on the making. There is no ingenuity here. By making these false things the axis of the discussion, the idea behind making up stories is to turn irrelevant what he did say and the amazing turnarounds this led to in the people that decided to give it a go (the before and after pictures in http://www.universalmedicine.net says it all). There is no doubt that it is Evil at play here.

  33. A great example how words taken out of context can be manipulated in whatever way the manipulators intention is. All mainstream religion talk about “The One” savior that will come one day and save humanity and nobody looks at this absolute myth and questions the truth of it. But Serge Benhayon stands up and says that EVERYBODY is the one and is equally responsible for evolution and then the press picks this aspect out of the context, manipulates it and accuses Serge Benhayon of claiming the same stupidity than any other religion??? This is so absurd in its double sense for first of all being totally made up, he never said this and secondly why isn’t this claim being questioned in the first place? Can it be that assuming responsibility is so uncomfortable that to avoid looking at it makes people make up lies???

    1. What a great point rachelandras not only about misinterpretation, but more particularly about manipulation which can be engineered in the favour of those who have a hidden agenda and purpose to the manipulation. It is the intent behind the manipulation that results in lies that to me, is evil – and I absolutely agree, is a distraction or deliberate evasion of taking responsibility.

  34. From Hearing Serge’s presentations I have been able to bring more self care and more self love into my life. Isn’t this what people in this world need and deeply miss in their lives, we are the ones who can choose to live a more loving and nurturing way, if we so choose

  35. Is Serge Benhayon responsible for inspiring me to change my life around from predominately self abusive to increasingly honouring and deeply caring – yes ‘he is the one’. Am I the one who has chosen to make and continue to make these choices – yes ‘I am the one’!

  36. Beautiful simple and true RH thank you for sharing your love and knowing for Serge Benhayon and the love and awareness he is bringing our attention too. He is showing us we need to be more self-loving, that we need to care deeply about ourselves and then others, and that society is lacking of nurturing, connection and care for one another. From this way of living comes a real health, vitality and joy and a reflection to others that we are all one if we make the choice to be.

  37. This is it, this is exactly what I have experienced through attending Universal Medicine presentations and listening to Serge Benhayon “What he has done is bring to our awareness that we (all of us, not just people who attend Universal Medicine presentations) need more love in our lives, that we need to be more self-loving, that we need to care deeply about ourselves and then others, and that society is lacking of nurturing, connection and care for one another.” It is a loving suggestion and yet a controversial one, it is interesting to consider why this would be the case, is it simply because it is exposing to be honest about how little self care and love is being expressed in the world?

  38. Serge Benhayon presents simple, down to earth, common sense, sense that offers us all the opportunity to take a stop and a look, and begin, if we should so choose, to make different more loving choices in our own lives. The fact that he has crossed our paths at all means to me that we sought that meeting on some level. We knew there was something we have been missing. For me it was myself, I forgot that I am ‘the one’, as is everybody else.

  39. I like the way you have written about Serge Benhayon, he is simply promoting a more responsible and self caring way to live. He is not forcing or dictating, he just presents and allows all to discern.

  40. This is great RH, we are all ‘The One’ and ‘The One’ that can choose self love and responsibility – a simple choice, no ‘following’ required!

  41. Universal Medicine and Serge Benhayon are straight down the line, there is not even a ‘whiff’ of cult about them.
The Behayons live with a transparency and the highest level of self-responsibility and integrity I have come across anywhere in the world.

  42. Neither Serge nor any other Universal Medicine for that matter has ever told me what to do (even if I have asked directly) I have only ever been presented with the truth and been given the space to feel for myself what is right for me.

  43. Thanks R.H. I love Serge Benhayon and all he presents. Through this I have been able to self-heal and change my life for the better. This continues to unfold as it does and will, why? Because I have commited to this process with myself, not because I was ever told what to do.

  44. Absolutely RH what Serge Benhayon has repeatedly presented is that the only ‘one’ that can change our lives is ourselves and it is up to all of us to take responsibility for our own lives rather than relying on any ‘one’ outside of us to give us the answers or directions on how to live.

  45. You’ve managed to sum up Universal Medicine spot on here R.H. Serge Benhayon has just learnt a way to live that supports him to live a more joy-full, loving and caring life and shares that with others. Those who put these shared lifestyle choices into their own life do experience changes. Nothing magical or special in the fact that there are people here just making choices about their life. The only difference being in that Serge has presented a way of making choices based on a certain quality that results in a certain quality of outcome. All the media drama and hype over Universal Medicine is completely missing the point and missing out on a truer story.

  46. Serge is such a lovely man who lives in such a loving way that you feel it when you meet him and when you hear him present, there are no rules laid down, no boundaries set, only the opportunity offered for each of us to feel what is truly loving and supportive for us and live accordingly.
